New work Opening!
Centre Street Arts Gallery
May 15th 7-9pm
My watercolor artwork aims for close observation and extending my flow state . I try to paint locations, often abstracted, that hold personal meaning—sites I return to repeatedly, tracing their changes across time. Themes of the isolated, ephemeral, and endangered often surface in my work. Conscious of the beholders share, I hope that the strong emotions I feel in these environments transcend the image and allow the viewer to sense what is beneath the place.
My artistic journey has jumped meandered from documentary and landscape photography to ceramics and ironwork, and finally to watercolor. Each discipline has shaped how I see. The textures and negative spaces of clay, the weight and grittiness of metal, and the tonality and contrasts of photography all inform the way I approach watercolor.
I currently show my work at the Centre Street Arts Gallery in Bath, Maine
